Believe it or not, Sound is one of the most ancient forms of medicine, used in healing for thousands of years. Instruments such as gongs, tuning forks, singing bowls and drums are now back with a bang and are rising in popularity.
Sound therapy uses vibrations created through the instruments to promote relaxation and wellbeing. It is widely accepted that most illness is stress related. Many scientists are now coming to understand that the mind absolutely does have an effect on the body. Sound has been said to help improve issues with sleep, ptsd, depression, anxiety and pain management to name but a few.
Sound baths or journeys take the person into a deep altered state of consciousness, and this is where the magic happens. Most people do not have the ability to switch their mind off, even for a second. The effects of the sound allow the participant to go deep into meditation, giving the mind a chance to relax. This is not the same as sleeping, where the mind is actually still very busy in the dream state.
Anyone can learn to access this place of stillness to help bring greater balance and peace into their lives.
We are delighted to be able to now offer Sound Journeys as part of our programme here at Sass and Self help.
